The Fury evens its record to 1-1 with a come from behind victory against the Midwest Coyotes 34-24.
The Fury fell behind 18-6 at halftime to win. The Coyotes took advantage of a few first year players and bad play of the Fury to go up at half 18-6.
The second half the Fury put things together with 10-14 passing from Fury rookie Angelo Manzo and the rushing of Shamonte Neal the Fury lead a serious charge to come back to win 34-24. The final score came with seconds on the clock with a desperate pass to score from the Coyotes and was intercepted by Jaquise Holcom and took in for the final score.
Great Lakes Football League play begins on June 3rd as the Fury will travel to Cedar Springs to take on the Eagles.
The Fury loses home opener to the Polar Bears 20-14 in overtime. The Bears started out quickly with a play action pass on the first play after the kick-off for the score of 50 yards and the 2 point conversion. The Fury return the favor just as quickly on the next kick-off the Bears kicked the ball short right into new comer RB Trevor Funseth and he bounced of tackles and sprinted for the score. The Fury failed on the 2 point attempt with RB Shamonte Neal up the middle.
In the second quarter the Bears sustained a drive which ended in a qb sneak up the middle to put the Bears up 14-6 with a failed point after attempt. The Fury couldn't keep a drive going and the Bears went into halftime up by the score 14-6.
With the defense in good rhythm the Fury shut down the Bears for the rest of the second half while the Fury managed to put one more score on the board with a quick slant from Shamon Halbert to WR Jacob Jacobs for 40 yards. With a successful 2-point conversion the score was tied 14-14 at the end of regulation.
In overtime the Fury received the ball first . On 3rd and long the Shamon connected with Jacobs again for the first down but was called back on an offense of pass interference. The next play was unsuccessful for the Fury and the ball was turned over on downs to the Bears. The Bears took advantage with a 40 strike down the the Fury's 3 yard line. The Fury tried to hang tough but on 3rd down the Bears got to the outside and put the game winner in for the score to win 20-14.
The next game for the Fury will be May 20th against the Midwest Coyotes at Holy Redeemer.
